Finnish retailer drafts a peace treaty to head off GTA VI rows at home

he launch of GTA VI, the biggest game release of the decade, is drawing near. In many households, tough negotiations over November console time are already under way. Finnish consumer electronics retailer Gigantti has a solution to the domestic friction: a written deal that grants the player gaming peace – and the person giving the go-ahead a set of mutually agreed favours in return.

Developed by Rockstar Games, Grand Theft Auto VI arrives on consoles on Thursday 19 November. It is one of the most anticipated game releases of all time, and many fans have already booked time off work so they can lose themselves completely in Lucia and Jason’s story – and in the wild ride that is Vice City.

The colossal pre-launch hype is also tinged with tension, as GTA VI is expected to keep eager players glued to their screens. November could well bring discord at home over turns at the console, everyday chores and console-free time.

Gigantti’s solution is the Grand Game Deal: a written agreement that the parties negotiating over gaming time sign – and commit to honouring. It sets out what the GTA VI gaming peace includes, when it applies, and what the non-gaming party gets in return.

Easy mode buys a day of peace – Hard mode is paid for in bribes

Borrowing from the world of video game difficulty settings, the Grand Game Deal comes in Easy, Normal and Hard versions. The agreement is drawn up online, and the signed copy can be printed out and even pinned to the wall.

The Easy deal secures gaming peace for GTA VI’s release day; the Normal deal covers the entire launch week.

The toughest difficulty level is designed for the most dedicated players and covers a full month of gaming peace. It also comes with a list of what the person granting permission gets in return: the players can pay for peace with household chores, gifts, quality time together or any other gestures both parties agree on.

“Gigantti is always on the gamer’s side – but never at the expense of peace at home. When gaming time has been agreed in black and white, the drama stays on the screen instead of spilling into the living room. Gaming should be fun and enjoyable, but the Grand Game Deal also looks after the home team. Alongside the console, it encourages everyone to put their cards on the table and agree on the house rules,” says Sami Särkelä, Head of Marketing and Communications at Gigantti.

Sign on the dotted line and be a part of gaming peace

Gigantti’s Grand Game Deal template is available online at grandgamedeal.com. The agreement comes into force once the parties have signed it. To celebrate every instance of gaming peace guaranteed, GIgantti is also offering a discount code on its normal-priced gaming products.

Each deal can be tailored to suit the negotiators’ needs. What is offered in return for gaming peace can be adjusted, and in households with more than one player, it helps divide time in Vice City fairly.

Now’s the time to negotiate gaming peace, with Vice City already looming ahead.
