OKW Enclosures, Inc. has unveiled COMMUNITEC, a new series of ergonomic desktop and portable enclosures developed for large-format electronic systems used in medical, industrial, and laboratory applications.
Designed for equipment such as medical devices, laboratory instruments, automation controls, quality assurance systems, and test and measurement technologies, the COMMUNITEC range combines portability, modern styling, and functional flexibility for professional environments.

The new enclosure series features an ergonomic structure with an integrated carrying handle for improved mobility. Its front operating panel is angled at 12 degrees to enhance usability and comfortably supports touchscreen displays ranging from 11.5 to 14 inches, as well as membrane keypads. A secondary flat front section provides additional room for switches, controls, and connectors.
COMMUNITEC also offers substantial internal and external space for electronics integration. Side sections can accommodate ventilation, connectors, or mounted measuring equipment, while a recessed rear compartment helps protect plugs, sockets, and cables and includes space for labelling. Non-slip rubber feet provide stability during operation.
The enclosure system is built from four modular elements — the main housing, operating panel, handle recess panel, and bottom panel — allowing users to configure colour combinations independently. The units are assembled using tamper-resistant Torx screws for added security.
To support flexible system integration, COMMUNITEC includes multiple internal fixing points for printed circuit boards and components. The bottom panel is designed to allow components to be pre-installed before final assembly, while electronics can later be accessed through the front panel or handle recess openings.
Manufactured from UV-resistant ASA+PC material with UL 94 V-0 flame resistance, the enclosures are available in two sizes:
- Size S: 11.14″ × 9.69″ × 7.64″
- Size M: 13.54″ × 10.79″ × 8.62″
Standard colour options include traffic white (RAL 9016) and anthracite grey (RAL 7016), with the handle grip panel optionally available in traffic grey A (RAL 7042). Custom colour configurations are also available upon request.
In addition to the standard enclosures, OKW provides a wide range of customization services, including machining, printing, lacquering, laser marking, décor foils, RFI/EMI shielding, and complete assembly and installation support.
