Delta Electronics Relocates Scottish Engineering Hub to New Glasgow Facility, Supporting Innovation in Industrial Electric Vehicles

New facility strengthens Delta’s long-term commitment to the UK, creating a modern, collaborative environment to accelerate innovation, engineering excellence and sustainable business growth

Delta Electronics, a global leader in power management and smart green solutions, has announced the relocation of its Scottish operations to a newly refurbished engineering hub and office facility at One Rutherglen Links, Glasgow.

The move represents a significant investment in Delta’s long-term presence in the UK and will provide a modern, collaborative environment designed to support innovation, enhance engineering capabilities and accommodate future business growth.

Around 40 employees across engineering, sales and support functions will relocate from East Kilbride to the new facility later this year. The new site has been designed with additional capacity to support the continued expansion of Delta’s Scottish operations.

“Our investment in a new Scottish headquarters demonstrates Delta’s long-term confidence in the UK market and our continued commitment to our employees, customers and partners,” said Jason Butcher, Country Head UK & Ireland, Delta Electronics EMEA.

“The new facility provides an inspiring environment that encourages collaboration, supports innovation and enables us to continue delivering high-value solutions to our customers. Most importantly, it creates a workplace where our people can thrive while supporting the continued growth of our business across the region. Its location in the Glasgow area also strengthens our ability to attract engineering talent and build further partnerships with leading universities.”

Expanding Delta’s Engineering Capabilities in Scotland

Delta has maintained an engineering presence in Scotland for almost 30 years, with its operations developing into an important engineering hub within Delta’s Industrial Mobility Business.

The relocation further strengthens Delta’s presence in the Glasgow area, which has a long-established industrial and engineering heritage alongside a strong network of engineering talent, universities and technology expertise.

The Scottish team specialises in the development of next-generation power conversion technologies for Industrial Electric Vehicles (IEVs), supporting applications including material handling, warehouse automation and logistics.

The multidisciplinary engineering team combines expertise across electrical and mechanical engineering, firmware development, PCB layout, automated test engineering, product management and project management. This breadth of expertise supports the development of high-efficiency battery charging systems, charging modules and DC-DC converters for industrial electric vehicles.

Current development programmes are focused on increasing power density, simplifying manufacturing processes and improving cost efficiency, while helping customers develop their next generation of electric vehicle platforms.

Located adjacent to Junction 2 of the M74 motorway, the new headquarters provides more than 11,100 square feet of newly refurbished Grade A office space across two floors. The facility is approximately a 10-minute train journey from Glasgow city centre and benefits from frequent public transport connections. Its proximity to several leading technical universities will also support Delta’s efforts to attract engineering talent and strengthen collaboration with academic partners.

“Innovation starts with people,” said Craig O’Neill, Head of R&D, Delta Energy Systems (UK) Limited.

“Our new headquarters has been designed to bring our engineering and business teams closer together, creating an environment that encourages knowledge sharing, collaboration and the development of next-generation power and energy management solutions.

“Dedicated engineering collaboration areas and a new product validation laboratory will allow our teams to recreate customer operating conditions, validate new product designs and demonstrate solution performance. This will help us accelerate innovation while delivering even greater value to our customers. We look forward to welcoming our colleagues to a workplace that supports both innovation and employee wellbeing.”

A Workplace Designed for Collaboration and Sustainability

The new headquarters has been designed around flexibility, collaboration and employee wellbeing. Modern open-plan workspaces are complemented by dedicated collaboration areas, enabling engineering teams to share ideas, solve challenges and work together more effectively.

The facility also includes a dedicated product validation laboratory, providing space for testing, technical validation and customer demonstrations. Breakout areas and communal facilities further support knowledge sharing and provide employees with a modern, efficient working environment aligned with Delta’s evolving ways of working.

Sustainability has also been incorporated into the design of the new facility. The building has an EPC ‘A’ energy rating and features a modern HVAC system designed to provide a comfortable working environment while supporting improved energy efficiency. Dedicated electric vehicle charging facilities are also available at the site.

These features complement Delta’s wider commitment to reducing environmental impact through energy-efficient technologies and smart green solutions.

The relocation forms part of Delta’s continued investment across Europe, following recent investments in Norway, Germany and the Netherlands. Together, these investments underline the company’s focus on innovation, sustainability and engineering excellence, while supporting long-term value for customers, employees and partners.

The new Glasgow headquarters provides a strong foundation for the continued development of Delta’s engineering capabilities in Scotland. It will support the company’s ongoing work to develop innovative power solutions and contribute to the future of industrial electrification, while creating an environment where employees, customers and partners can collaborate on the technologies shaping the next generation of industrial electric mobility.
