Glu, the end-to-end channel services provider, has launched Horizon Reuse, a module that manages IT hardware through its entire lifecycle, from selection through to disposal.
The launch responds to a widening gap in corporate IT asset management. The data shows that businesses buy some 484,000 tonnes of electrical equipment every year, yet two thirds of devices leaving the system do not go through a proper recycling route.
Horizon addresses that gap with a single managed service. It identifies what a partner and their customers need, designs the right setup, installs it, supports people using it, and replaces the equipment when the time comes.
When a laptop, phone or server is replaced, the old device still holds data, may still carry value, and still has to be accounted for however it is disposed of. Under Horizon Reuse, Glu collects equipment that partners no longer need, ensuring that data is either securely erased or physically destroyed, depending on the equipment and agreed treatment.
The remaining value is confirmed and paid following collection and final grading. An indicative buy-back valuation is provided first and anything that cannot be reused is recycled responsibly.
A certified data security report and supporting waste documentation are produced and partners and their customers are left with a single record for every device, from purchase to collection.
Unused equipment loses value the longer it sits in storage. Horizon Reuse is designed to help organisations identify surplus assets earlier, remove them securely from the estate, and recover their remaining financial value.
The service covers all vendors and all types of technology equipment, including:
- Laptops, desktops and monitors
- Mobile phones and tablets
- Servers, storage and data-centre equipment
- Switches, routers, firewalls and wireless infrastructure
- Printers, peripherals and workplace technology
- Surplus, legacy and end-of-life equipment
Horizon Reuse forms part of Glu’s wider Horizon platform, which gives organisations one connected view across the full technology lifecycle. By linking pre-sales, deployment, adoption, management, renewal and ITAD, Horizon helps organisations understand what they own, how it is being used, when it should be refreshed, and how its remaining value can be recovered.
Billy Haining co-founder of Fareham-based Glu, said: “Horizon supports the complete technology lifecycle across any vendor, from pre-sales and deployment through to adoption, renewal and final collection.
“Horizon Reuse closes the loop, helping partners recover value, protect customer data and ensure equipment is reused or recycled responsibly.”
The result, Glu says, is greater visibility, stronger governance, improved financial returns and a more sustainable approach to technology ownership.
