WeMeet by WeRoad: The Travel Startup’s New App Is Turning Loneliness into a Business Opportunity

21,000 downloads, 200 events, 2,000 attendees, in just two weeks.

WeRoad, the European group travel brand best known for bringing thousands of solo travellers together on curated adventures, has launched a new app, and this time, the destination is your own city.

WeMeet is the company’s bold new move into the lifestyle space: a real-world social app designed to help people meet face to face through curated local events. And just two weeks in, it’s already showing serious traction.

With 21,000 app downloads, over 200 events hosted, and more than 2,000 attendees across Europe, WeMeet is tapping into a problem many tech platforms have failed to solve, how to help people build real friendships offline.

From Global Trips to Local Trust

Founded in 2017, WeRoad has grown into one of Europe’s fastest scaling travel brands, with a community of over 200,000 customers, 3,000+ trip coordinators, and a strong social presence (3.5M+ followers). Its group trips, designed primarily for Millennials and Gen Z,  focus less on sightseeing and more on community.

Now, the company is applying that same approach to everyday life. With WeMeet, users can RSVP to events in their city, follow favourite hosts, and receive personalised invites through a sleek, social-friendly app.

Events span everything from yoga and hiking to pottery classes and after-work drinks. They’re casual, curated and designed to make it easier to turn free time into new friendships.

The Right Launch at the Right Time

WeMeet is arriving at a moment of growing concern over loneliness, especially among younger adults. Over 30% of 18–34-year-olds say they feel lonely every day, according to the World Health Organization. And while most social platforms have become more isolating than social, WeMeet is going in the opposite direction, getting people off their phones and into real-world meetups.

The app is currently live in 30+ European cities, including London, Berlin, Paris, Milan, Amsterdam and Barcelona. Events are free to attend for now, with a paid subscription model on the roadmap.

The rapid early adoption suggests WeMeet may be on to something,  and not just as a community project, but a scalable business. By combining tech, events and a ready-made audience of WeRoad alumni (as well as a growing number of new users), WeMeet could become one of Europe’s most interesting consumer lifestyle platforms in the post-pandemic social era.
